KID TABLE

Today, I'm having my family over for Sunday dinner and were celebrating one of my nieces birthday. I decided to get creative and put together a kids table, do some creative wrapping and decorate a little. Okay, I was a little bored. Sunday's are a perfect day for my creative mind to go to work. So, here is what I did.

Kids Table
1. Laid down moving wrapping paper. You can get a large box of it at Office Max.
2. Put colored pencils, crayons and playdo in tin pots. The pots were purchased at Ikea for $1.00 each.
3. Added some flowers to some old 7up bottles I have had.

Wrapping
1. Hobby Lobby wrapping paper
2. Wrapped present in white ribbon
3. Added metallic gold cupcake wrapper and glued hot pink pom pom on top.

Decorations
1. Martha Stewart Pom Pom's,  purchased from Michaels.
2. Martha Stewart Happy Birthday garland also purchased at Michaels.
3. Party hat purchased at Hobby Lobby.

I'm excited to enjoy the party. Happy Labor Day!

Tie Wrap

Today while at Deseret Industries, I found a few cool polyester ties for my brothers. I liked them so much that I decided to use them to wrap another gift I had for them. What do you think?

KNITTED WRAP

When my husband saw this, he said, "This is the coolest wrapping job I have ever seen!"  When a GUY comments on a wrapping job, you know you've got something special.

Supplies needed: scissors, thread, needle, ribbons, ornament, knit stocking
Time needed: 15 minutes

1. I found an old stocking I had bought at Target but you can find knitted stockings at Walmart, Michaels, Kohls, Big lots etc... I forgot to take a picture before I cut it.
2. Cut the foot off the stocking and throw it out or put it on your head and make a weird face,  or keep it for the future...you never know when you need the foot of a stocking.
3. After you cut, you should stuff your gift in the stocking portion see photo #3. I used an old verizon phone box (hopefully Andy wasn't using that for something) but you can size it up, if the box is smaller cut more off the bottom of the sock.
4. Make sure you have thread and a needle. I matched the thread but you could use white, or off white or green...whatever.
5. Wrap the material like you would wrap any present and secure the corners with thread.
6. There are several ways to wrap a present, but I chose the method shown in photo 6.
7. Grab some ribbon and a small ornament. You can get creative with this part. You can use small ribbons, large ribbons, you can mix and match, you can use twine, let your imagination run wild. The more you use the better. Wrap the ribbons around the present. I wrapped one set of ribbons horizontal and then another set vertically then knotted them together.
8. Secure the ornament and you're finished.
9. Show it off!  You'll likely hear "This is the coolest wrapping job I have ever seen!"

P.S. I was realizing while securing the corners that the only way to get the present out is cutting the corners.

STAMP AND WRAP

Step 1)  Cut open a brown paper bag so that it lays relatively flat.  You can use either the printed side or the blank reverse (I used the printed in my example because I really loved the design).
Step 2)  Put paint (any color you want) onto your tray/plate (you may need to brush it around so that it's not all in one lump).  Take your prepared celery stamp and dip it into your paint.  Check and be sure that it's fully coated.
Step 3)  Press your stamp down onto your paper with steady even pressure.  Be sure not to rock it from side to side or let it slide around.  Lift off your paper with a smooth motion.
Step 4)  Repeat as desired.  In the image I am stamping an area intended for gift tags, so I chose to make more than one print so that I could cut several tags from it.
Step 5)  Once your stamp has dried (if you're impatient like me, you can dry it with a hairdryer on a low setting) use craft punches to cut out your tags.  Punch at the top with a standard hole punch (so you can string twine through it later).
Step 6)  Using tissue paper or other gift wrap sized paper, repeat steps above until paper is covered in as many stamps as you like.  TIP: For tissue and other thin papers, be sure to place a scrap piece of paper beneath the sheet you are working on in case some of the paint comes through.  If you use more than one celery stock you can overlay colors for a really cool effect.
Step 7)  Allow paper to dry completely and then wrap up your gifts.
Step 8)  Embellish as you like!
