FUNNY FACE

Shirt-Gap, Pants-Elizabeth & James, Belt-Anthropologie, Necklace-Vintage, Glasses-Last Chance, Shoes-Nine West, Purse-Carlos, Earrings-Banana Republic, Nails-Shellac

Audrey Hepburn inspired todays outfit. The great thing about fashion is it has a way of repeating itself. I continually look at old magazines and books for inspiration.
You'll have to forgive me for not posting yesterday. I was too busy enjoying my pajama party. I ordered pizza, drank Italian sodas and watched Funny Girl...so much fun!

FOXY FRIDAY

Shirt and pants-H&M, Earrings-Vintage gift, Shoes- Stuart Weitzman

Happy Friday! This week flew by with Monday being a holiday and I love it. Fridays are the best.

So, listen to this. I was just walking to the bathroom and I could hear the elevator doors closing. A young woman goes straight from the elevators to the bathroom and I freeze. Okay, every floor in this building has its own set of bathrooms so why is she using our floor. I had to go so bad but I really don't want to be in there while she drops a bomb - excuse me, let me try to be more lady like - while she moves her bowel. I was a little grossed out by it. So, I held it in for another 30 minutes then went back to the bathroom and whao!: she must have had Indian food. I know, gross, story over.

So, this weekend I'm going to be going to the Body Works exhibit in Phoenix. Have any of you been? I'm pretty excited. I'll have to take pictures. Have a fabulous weekend and come back and see me on Monday.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Can you tell by the look on my face that I'm excited for tonight? Well, I am and I'm smiling right now as I type this. I rarely get dressed up to go to anything but, when given the oppurtunity, I like to get into it.
I was raised watching the old classic movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gone with the Wind and Splendor in the Grass and I seem to revert back to them when finding a dress. I found this particular dress at H&M. I usually wear a bolero with it but, for this photo, I wanted to showcase it a little (along with the "beauty mark" that somehow ended up on my shoulder).  I inherited the fur and bought the jewelry a few years ago at BR. Oh, and the belt was purchased at F21.
So, back to my excitement. Tonight, I will be ringing in my New Years at Christopher's (a restaurant at the Biltmore). Andy and I ate there a few years ago and have been wanting to go back. So tonight's the night. I'm excited to be with my cute husband, hang out with friends and to dance around like a crazy women at Midnight (you should see me dance...I'm awesome.  Pause. Not!). I'm sad little Lauren will be with a babysitter, but it won't be long and that girl will be dancing around with me too....gosh I love that little piece of perfection. But I digress.
So HAPPY NEW YEAR ladies and gents. Not that too many gents will be reading my blog but, you never know these days. It IS 2010...er 11.

YOU LIKE?

I've been talking about fur a lot this season so I wanted to feature one of my own. I found this jacket last year at Hollywood Regency in downtown phoenix...you like?

I Love Congress...Congress Ave., That Is

After we left the hot dog stand (see yesterday's post), I was on the hunt for some thrift shops. I hit up a couple that had some cool vintage name brand pieces but I couldn't find anything that I loved in my size (one bad thing about being petite). All the while, my current husband Andy (JK;)) was waiting in the car because Little L was taking a much needed nap. Andy hates shopping and waiting in the car while I shop must even be worse so I had to run in and run out. When I ran out to the car, hoping I hadn't taken too long, to my surprise, Andy had been scanning Austin street style blogs looking for cool vintage stores to check out...isn't that awesome? He's so freakin cute. So, he found one that was amazing but I'll have to tell you about it tomorrow because, first, I want to talk about the food.
So we head to South Congress St. which is a very hip/granola/stylish area and I see the Stag sign (pictured above) and the pizza shop next to it (pictured upper right) and we stop to get a quick bite because, by now, Lauren's politely reminding us of how hungry she is.
We walk down the busy street, endowed in warm jackets and ask the cute little couple eating pizza (pictured top middle) about the pie and they tell us it's amazing and it's the best pizza in town. I was so excited. I had been in Austin for an hour and without even looking at my urbanspoon app, I find the best pizza in town...score! We walk in the pizza shop and order one cheese and one pepperoni slice and chow down. Okay, it's not the best pizza I've ever had, in fact, it was a lot like Sauce's pizza - good, but not "the best."  Luckily, everything's bigger in Texas, including the slices. Little L loves her some pizza so we all left happy (pictured upper left corner). Then we headed next door to Stag which was very cool.  It was like the guy's department at Urban but the clothes were of a higher quality.
So far, Austin's a blast.  To be continued...

THANKS FOR THE SWEATER

Twas the week of Thanksgiving and all through the house, not a sweater to find nor a warm blouse.
The catalogs came in with Madewell on top with sweaters galore but no time to shop.
So I opened my laptop, entered their URL; took out the debit card and thought, what the H#%%!
Number 1 above, a chunky-patterned knit sweater, for warmth AND style it doesn't get much better.
In photo 2 you'll see winter doesn't mean "big", a long cardigan and belt make you look like a twig.
And that tan you've worked on all summer, here are sweaters with shorts for legs not ready to cover.
Number 3, you can wear it over pajamas by the fire, or out to dinner where all will admire.
And the well designed pullover in photo number 4, okay that's enough, I shouldn't spend any more!
This morning I had nothing that was winter-esque, now I'm all set without leaving my desk.

MORE FABULOUS FAUX FUR

FOXY FRIDAY

London's cold winters can cause the wonderfully fashion minded residents to think more about function than form. So, the fall season is THE time to choose the latter. Londoners pride themselves on their tailored apparel. The three dapper ladies featured above are in London for Fashion Week. Do you recognize any of them?  One is Olivia Palermo from "The City". I'm really liking this year’s fall fashion trends.  Oh, and those high-heeled boots; I'll take 2, please.

HATE LONG LINES? Take a "cue" from the Brits.

Mad Men has bolstered our love for 1960's fashion. Designers are adding longer hem lines, higher waistlines and raised necklines to their dresses.  This year VougueUK has featured these slyly sexy dresses.

JEGGINGS- THE MUST HAVE JEAN

Jeggings are the IT jean this Fall. Go grab a pair!!!
