I'M BACK

I'm back to the cyber world! I feel like I can find some time for blogging now that I'm back to my routine. I have had a crazy past few months. I have stories and pictures to share...not today, but soon. Hope all of you had a Happy Thanksgiving! Yesterday I got the food ready and my family ready 30 minutes ahead of time.  We got into the car and I told them I was going to have my brother take a quick family photo nearby.  Wahhaa, I tricked them.  I'm positive had I mentioned it we wouldn't have been on time and one of the kids would have been crazy.

KID TABLE

Today, I'm having my family over for Sunday dinner and were celebrating one of my nieces birthday. I decided to get creative and put together a kids table, do some creative wrapping and decorate a little. Okay, I was a little bored. Sunday's are a perfect day for my creative mind to go to work. So, here is what I did.

Kids Table
1. Laid down moving wrapping paper. You can get a large box of it at Office Max.
2. Put colored pencils, crayons and playdo in tin pots. The pots were purchased at Ikea for $1.00 each.
3. Added some flowers to some old 7up bottles I have had.

Wrapping
1. Hobby Lobby wrapping paper
2. Wrapped present in white ribbon
3. Added metallic gold cupcake wrapper and glued hot pink pom pom on top.

Decorations
1. Martha Stewart Pom Pom's,  purchased from Michaels.
2. Martha Stewart Happy Birthday garland also purchased at Michaels.
3. Party hat purchased at Hobby Lobby.

I'm excited to enjoy the party. Happy Labor Day!

AWESOME DIY

I saw this cameroon African hat used in design on Dear Genevieve a few months ago and fell in love with it. I quickly looked it up online and found that it was out of my budget. Then, I saw this...

Design Sponge did a DIY yarn cameroon hat. Super cute, right? I'm going to try it out. Check out the tutorial here .

BEACH RETREAT

This has been my latest project. My bedroom is a large space and has been a challenge but I love to decorate and finding accessories and furniture for this room has been a lot of fun. I finally got my ugly green chaise re-upolstered and I absolutely love how it turned out. I just ordered fabric for another fabulous chair that will go in my girl den. I'll share pictures when it's finished.

CATCHING UP

I haven't blogged in awhile so I'm playing catch-up. Here a few things that have been taking up my time.

1. My window sill has been a sad lonely vacant space until recently. I saw these cute terrariums demonstrated on various sites in different shapes and sizes and decided to give it a try. I bought the hanging spheres on cb2.com for $3.95 and then bought some little plants at Lowe's. My Mother and I played around with the dirt and plants, sand and rocks and these are the little worlds we created.

2. This year Easter was pretty exciting. I was pretty entertained watching Lauren hunt for eggs and then go through each one, hoping for a small chocolate egg to devour. Each time she found one she would pop it in her mouth wrapper and all...yummy.

3. The dressers above were supposed to be night stands but I thought they were too wide so I put them together on the opposite wall to create a dresser. The dressers were Ikea malm's that I painted and added new hardware to. I painted a few pictures, put them in Ikea frames, added a few accessories from Marshall home and called it quits. Now on to the next project.
