CATCHING UP

I haven't blogged in awhile so I'm playing catch-up. Here a few things that have been taking up my time.

1. My window sill has been a sad lonely vacant space until recently. I saw these cute terrariums demonstrated on various sites in different shapes and sizes and decided to give it a try. I bought the hanging spheres on cb2.com for $3.95 and then bought some little plants at Lowe's. My Mother and I played around with the dirt and plants, sand and rocks and these are the little worlds we created.

2. This year Easter was pretty exciting. I was pretty entertained watching Lauren hunt for eggs and then go through each one, hoping for a small chocolate egg to devour. Each time she found one she would pop it in her mouth wrapper and all...yummy.

3. The dressers above were supposed to be night stands but I thought they were too wide so I put them together on the opposite wall to create a dresser. The dressers were Ikea malm's that I painted and added new hardware to. I painted a few pictures, put them in Ikea frames, added a few accessories from Marshall home and called it quits. Now on to the next project.

GUEST ROOOM

Duvet, pillows, curtains-Anthropologie, Nightstand and dresser-Denmarket, Bed and frames-Ikea, Mirror-Ross, Lamp-West Elm, Prints-Stanley Chow, Antlers-Frances

I have been busy around the house lately and here is one of my latest projects. I have had most of the decor for awhile now but,  the room needed some rearranging and some wall decor. I found these two lovely prints online and I seriously couldn't be happier with them,  plus check out the cool new frames I found for them at Ikea...love them.

Happy Thursday! Come back and visit me tomorrow to see what I did with Lauren's room.

Is Your Table Dressed to Impress?

The holidays are amongst us and I've been scouring the web looking for table decor ideas. I found these three and love the attention to detail. Here's what I like about these displays: Mixing and matching plates; Using Scrabble pieces for name cards; Christmas ornaments in tea cups and burlap napkins.
Tell me what catches your eye about these displays.

HOLIDAY CARNIVAL

I love simple eats and treats for parties! Fortunately, buffet-style tables are easy to set up and can still be very stylish.

FROST YOURSELF

Sometimes all you need to add is a broach or a flower to make something beautiful.

FRENCH SIMPLICITY

This is Vanessa Bruno's historical home in  Marais area of Paris. I love cool tones mixed with a pop of color and those big windows really make the space.

INCORPORATING COLOR IN YOUR SPACE

Are you afraid of adding colors to your space? Well, don't be! By following this simple rule you can inject color like the pros.  Who doesn't like a little Paint By Number?
Use the 60-30-10 Rule.
60% of a dominant color
30% of a secondary color
10% of an accent color
